About Us

Career Uniforms started as a scrub shop in Nacogdoches, TX in 1984. Before long, the demand for embroidered names and logos on scrubs and lab coats became apparent, and Designs Plus was born to fill this need. Paul and Kathy Thoman purchased Career Uniforms / Designs Plus, Inc. from Arthur Temple in 2003, and moved it to our current location on North University Drive in Nacogdoches. We combined both businesses into one location, expanded our operation to include screen printing and promotional products, and opened our second store on Frank Street in Lufkin, TX. In 2019, Kyle Thoman took over ownership and operational control of the business.

We pride ourselves in our customer service. We strive to create a friendly and fun shopping experience for our customers. If we don't have what you are looking for in our stores, we will order it for you at no extra charge. We work with many doctor's offices, medical providers, hospitals, and school cafeterias. We also work with many of the area nursing schools and medical programs. We travel to the schools to fit students for their uniforms, provide their lab kits, shoes, stethoscopes, etc., and we process the student's financial aid. We are Region 7 and Region 8 TIPS approved bidders.

We pride ourselves in high quality work, attention to detail, and our creative ability. We embroider anything from a single customer owned towel to large orders with hundreds of jackets or hats. We have the top of the line Tajima multi-head embroidery equipment, and very long term, experienced, and talented operators. We screen print t-shirts, hoodies, and other apparel items. We work with our customers to create the design they want. We can apply your logo to thousands of promotional products, just about anything the promotional products industry offers.
